Toque d’Or awards 2016: 2 out of the 20 best restaurants in Greece are at the Elounda SA Hotels & Resorts!
At the annual Toque d’Or awards two of the resorts of Elounda S.A Hotels & Resorts were recognised for their gourmet cuisine, their excellent service and their immaculate environment.
The enchanting Old Mill restaurant at the elounda mare hotel, Relais & Châteaux, with chef Andonis Petrelis at the helm, was recognized for its Gourmet Cretan Cuisine, a very unique concept, served within a beautiful environment of seaside gardens. Moreover, the Old Mill restaurant also received an award for its fine Greek gastronomy.
The amazing Calypso restaurant at the elounda peninsula ALL SUITE HOTEL, with the hotels executive chef Nikos Zaranis in charge, was recognized for its Gourmet French Cuisine and the way this combined with the local ingredients. The Calypso restaurant also stood out on account of its own large wine cellar, the "Kellari", where patrons enjoy tastings and learn about the millenia of Greek wine-making tradition.
The award committee, consisting of a very experienced team of experts travelling throughout the country on an incognito basis, reviewed hundreds of restaurants before reaching its conclusions.
This distinction is particularly important for Elounda S.A Hotels & Resorts, as the Toque d’Or awards, now celebrating twenty three years as the country’s leading gastronomic institution, are the main motive force contributing to the rising quality of the Greek culinary landscape witnessed in all international guides (like the Guide Michelin).
